Background alerts
SwimKeep can send you a quiet notification when your pool needs attention — even when the app is closed.
-
Use a supported browser
Background alerts require Chrome or Edge on a desktop or Android device. Safari on iPhone and Firefox do not support this feature yet.
Once you are in a supported browser, reload this page and come back to Notifications.
-
Install SwimKeep as an app
Background alerts only work when SwimKeep is installed as an app window — not a regular browser tab. This only takes about 30 seconds.
Chrome on Windows or Mac- Click the install icon in the address bar (looks like a computer with a down arrow), or open the browser menu (three dots) and choose Save and share > Install page as app.
- Click Install in the popup.
- SwimKeep opens in its own window — that is the installed app.
Edge on Windows- Click the browser menu (three dots, top right) and choose Apps > Install this site as an app.
- Click Install.
- SwimKeep opens in its own window — that is the installed app.
After installing, open the SwimKeep app window (not the browser tab) and come back to Notifications.
-
Allow notifications
SwimKeep needs your permission to show notifications. You may have previously blocked them. Here is how to fix that.
Chrome or Edge — reset permission- Click the lock icon or tune icon in the address bar.
- Find Notifications and set it to Allow.
- Reload SwimKeep, then come back here.
Windows — check system notifications- Open Windows Settings (press Win + I).
- Go to System > Notifications.
- Scroll down to find your browser or SwimKeep app and make sure notifications are On.
-
Notifications are enabled
SwimKeep will check your pool conditions in the background and send you a quiet alert when something needs attention. You do not need to open the app.
